Historical Significance
Old Town features a quaint pedestrian walking mall with outdoor cafes, fun & specialty shops, historic attractions, and family-oriented activities throughout the year. Commemorative plaques in the yard and on the porch of the 1840 Frederick County Court House illustrate early history of the city and county.
Old Town Winchester Today
A vital marketplace for more than 250 years, Old Town Winchester is located within the heart of our 45-block national Register Historic District. History buffs following the Wilderness trail may want to take a self-guided walking tour featuring 250 years of beautiful architecture and local history. Don't forget to visit quaint shops and cafes as you wander the pedestrian mall. One of the many buildings on the mall is the stately antebellum Frederick County Court House. Commemorative plaques on the porch and in the courtyard illustrate early history of the city and county. Hours of operation for each business vary.
