When Joyce and Lankford Blair built their dream no detail was overlooked. The result is the Magnolia House Bed & Breakfast, a beautiful Queen Anne Victorian architectural masterpiece on the National Register for Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Their passion for music and prose inspired unforgettable guest rooms – the jazzy Ellington Suite, the quiet Haven and the sumptuous Writer’s Retreat.

In addition to the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, the Magnolia House offers second-to-none hospitality and delightful breakfast options. Guests have enjoyed Joyce's Chesapeake Bay crab cakes (or fried oysters in winter), baked apples and english muffins to start their day.

Located just steps from downtown Hampton, the Blair’s inn captures the essence of Virginia’s southern sophistication.

Joyce and Lankford Blair are finely attuned to the needs of their guests and the art of offering Virginia-style hospitality.

"Operating a B&B seemed a natural progression for me and my husband, Lankford, as we love to entertain and have been raised and trained to take care of all who cross our threshold." - Joyce Blair

A real taste of Virginia - ham biscuits!

The word "charm" is overused, but in the case of Virginia's many B&Bs and Inns, charming is exactly what they are. And warm. It's not always the period furnishings, antiques, handmade quilts or fabulous high thread count sheets that keep guests coming back time and again, it's the charm and warmth of the innkeepers themselves.

"Joyce and Lankford are the epitome of Southern hospitality and elegance. I was fortunate enough to stay in the Duke Ellington suite, a romantic setting worthy of the Duke himself--complete with music and a parlor grand enough for dancing, a decadent lighted bath and a sumptuous bed that was a world unto itself." - Linda R. Monk, Magnolia House B&B guest and award-winning legal author
